Cipo’ likes bikes that are aero and  stiff. The Bond meets those criteria. It also reflects the needs of riders  looking for some comfort.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn broad strokes, this is  identical to the rim brake version of the Bond. This  bike is both monocoque and bonded, the latter is the reason for the name. The  main triangle is monocoque, as in it came out of a mold. The stays are  assembled separately and bonded to the frame—they call it Atomlink, and it's a  patented process. The thin wishbone seat stays are one piece and each chainstay  is another piece. If you look very carefully, you can see where the stays join  above the carbon-fiber and also in the ridges encircling the BB386evo bottom  bracket. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe  bike’s more conventional silhouette, addresses another important issue. Compliance.  With a smaller, carefully-shaped downtube, slimmed seat and top tubes, and  pencil-thin seat stays, the bike handles rough roads better than any other  Cipollini. Also helping aid in the comfort is the telescoping seat post. The  post is proprietary to Cipo', is 350mm long and executed in carbon-fiber for  light weight. Here, you don't have to sweat sawing a mast. 25mm setback is  standard, but if you need a zero setback post, one can be purchased as an  accessory.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe  Bond's tubes were built with a mix of Toray's T700 and Teijin's UTS  carbon-fiber plies, the same as with the Logos. The shapes have been executed  differently to provide a different ride, here, one where there's a little more  comfort built in while still having a fairly straightforward race geometry. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA  number of features of the Bond are found throughout the Cipo' line. Cable  routing is internal, and can be set up for either electronic or mechanical  shifting. If you go the electronic route, there are fittings at the bottom of  the downtube, though, if you prefer, an internal battery can be set up inside  the seat tube. The fork has a tapered steerer tube for handling precision,  using extra-wide bearings, 1 1\/4\" to 1 1\/2\" for greater  stiffness—with the standard 1 1\/8 steerer to make finding stems easy. The front  derailleur mounts to a derailleur hanger with enough vertical adjustment to  worth with both compact and standard chain rings. The BB386evo standard was  chosen for the bottom bracket both in terms of how it allows Cipollini to build  a stiff bike and how it allows the consumer to specify any modern crank and  bottom bracket they want.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs  mentioned above, this is a disc brake bike. It comes with 100x12mm and 142x12mm  thru axles. The disc calipers attach to the bike via flat mounts. While the  bike can work with mechanical or electronic shifting, specify beforehand, so  the proper stops and plates come with. If you go electronic, you mount the  battery inside the seatpost. They’ve opened up sizing possibilities on the front end,  thanks to a new head tube top cap, that raises the head tube 18mm over the top  tube. This allows for less flexible riders to find the handlebar position they  like with the reach they like. The fork has been reshaped for greater  comfort, but still slashes like a razor, thanks to both the carbon-fiber layup  and the tapered 1 ¼” to 1 ½” steerer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe  carbon-fiber is still fronted by Toray’s T1000 cloth. The shaping is still  extensive and pronounced. The head tube is pointy the fork crown nestles into a  cutout between the top and down tubes. The downtube curves around the front  wheel and the seat tube shrouds the rear wheel, along with extensively shaped  seatstays. The dropouts have been reshaped for extra strength. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWherever  you look, this bike has been shaped for stiffness. The BB386 bottom bracket is  wide and presents a great platform for limiting torsional flex. The downtube  flares out at the bottom to help it get even stiffer. The down and top tubes  join behind the head tube. Even though there’s a low stack height, the  seatstays are big and the seatpost oversized. The stiffness, whether wielded on a flat road, or a  steep grade, results in more forward energy. They used to have a seat  mast. The separate post, 500mm long, with 140mm needing to stay inside the  frame, adjusts via a hidden binder clamp.
